Every single day, since November 16, 2019, I have written a poem.

Some of them are horrible. Some of them are good. Some of them are haikus. Some of them are hundred-line ponderings about my anxieties and fears. All that mattered to me was that I wrote and uploaded a poem every night before I went to sleep.

Why?

Everyone tells you that your junior year of high school is your most important and most stressful year. Let me tell you: it is.

All my friends began to apply to schools, to discuss their future goals, to brag about their grade…

A photo posted to Delegate Dave LaRock's Twitter of the rally I attended.

A few weeks ago, before the election had been called by The Associated Press, I was driving through my hometown of Purcellville, Virginia. It is a small town in northern Virginia, only an hour’s drive from the nation’s capital. I was trying to get back home, but I found myself slowed down to an excruciating pace, as it just so happened that my dated little blue Subaru outback was sandwiched right in the middle of a parade of large cars, jeeps, and trucks all flying Trump banners and or sporting Trump flags.

I immediately wanted to protest the parade. I…

The murder of George Floyd was a tragedy. Anyone who says that his killing was justified is either ignorant, stupid, or lying to themselves. He was a martyr, the cause of widespread civil unrest, bringing mass awareness and attention to the major debilitating wound on the body of America that is racism. Though Mr. Floyd’s untimely, unjustified, and cruel murder happened almost half a year ago and the evidence against the policemen that took part in the act is overwhelming, there are still reactionaries blinded by political bias and subconscious — and sometimes even conscious — racism coming up with…

This presidential debate was a nice change in pace. Though there was certainly a more than respectable amount of interruption, this most recent and final presidential debate much more resembled a serious presidential debate than their first disgrace of a debate.

With that having been said, if you did not watch the debate, what did you miss? Here are what I believe to be the top five key things, in no particular order, said during this debate.

Freeze frame of President Donald Trump during live debate.

1 — Abraham Lincoln

During the debate, President Trump was asked whether or not he supported Black Lives matter, he stated that he…

The effective use of communication has the potential to distinguish and set aside politicians as trustworthy and notable people.

Take the Federalist Papers as an example. Part of what gave the Federalists a lead over the Anti-Federalists was their ability and willingness to use modern communications, for them this meant pamphlets, to effectively communicate with the American mass public. As another example, take President Trump, who is known for his — though excessive — use of Twitter to communicate with the American people. This direct and seemingly transparent communication is historically seen to bode well with the American people.

Cornerstone Chapel, Leesburg Virginia

Recently, one of the largest churches in my area, Cornerstone Chapel, held a sermon which intimately disturbed me. In this message, preached by Pastor Gary Hamrick, the Democratic Party was condemned for providing basic human liberties and supporting equality among all races. Prefacing this hateful political rant, Mr. Hamrick stated that he both welcomes and understands differing opinions — here is mine.

Matthew 22:37–39 provides the most clear and concise commandment of how to glorify and honor God, saying “’…Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind…’ And the…
